I design and conduct enjoyable theory training sessions for small and large groups. These courses are tailored for all company staff members, regardless of their roles.

Spinal Awareness Education

I emphasise the importance of spinal awareness and encourage delegates to adopt good working practices holistically in their professional and personal lives.

Interactive Learning

The Moving and Handling theory course includes PowerPoint presentations, discussions, and games to ensure participants gain knowledge while having fun and accommodating various learning styles.

Moving and Handling Practical Course

This session follows on from the Moving and Handling theory course when a practical aspect is requested. Delegates must complete a half-day theory course on Moving and Handling before this session. The knowledge acquired from the theory course will enable delegates to grasp the essential principles of safe and effective moving and handling, which are crucial for moving and handling transfers, including hoisting.

Half-day practical course approx. Four hours – groups of between 4 and 6 people.

Our practical sessions can be tailored to meet your requirements. This can include initial hoist training/review training. Before attending, all delegates must have completed the half-day theory course.

  • A case manager or SENCO should attend any hoist training session or at least one session if multiple delegates require training. This responsible staff member will oversee the trained staff in their setting and review their competencies post-training.
  •
  • For hoisting training, delegates will first learn the theory through a PowerPoint presentation, followed by a Q&A session.
  •
  • These theory sessions are followed by practical training on safe hoisting protocols.
  •
  • In all practical sessions, the theory from the half-day course will reinforce the importance of smooth manual handling techniques, helping to keep everyone safe and reduce the risk of injury during manual handling tasks.
  •
  • If the training is specific to a young person, a discussion with their therapist will be required beforehand to discuss transfer-specific moves for the staff to undertake training on.
